Inaugural OilersNation open presented by ATB Financial

Inaugural OilersNation open presented by ATB Financial

For as long as I've worked here people have asked me why Oilersnation doesn't have its own golf tournament, and today I'm finally able to tell you that it's time to pull out your clubs because we're hitting the links. My friends, I'm proud to announce the first ever Oilersnation Open presented by ATB Financial at Cougar Creek Golf Resort and you're all invited to join us.

SO WHAT'S HAPPENING?

With the British Open kicking off on Thursday, some of you may be feeling sad that you'll never have the chance or skills to win a pro tournament so we wanted to give you a chance at the next best thing. On September 14th, Oilersnation will be taking over the Cougar Creek Golf Resort with 144 of our closest friends (that's you!) to hack some balls around, drink whatever amount of alcohol is needed to correct that slice of yours, and strive for the eternal glory of becoming the first ever Oilersnation Open champion. Think you're up for it? You're damned right you are.

Having our own golf tournament is something that we've wanted to do for years and I'm pretty pumped to actually be able to say that we finally pulled it off. We wanted to put something together that gives us all a chance to get out into some natural sunlight, have some fun, meet your fellow citizens, make a few memories and raise some money for the Gregor Foundation all at the same time. As per Nation tradition, landing a spot in this tournament means you'll be included in all of the draws, giveaways, and shenanigans you're used to while also knowing that you're playing golf for a great cause.

If you've made it this far I can tell that you're interested. The problem? There is no problem, but space is limited and that means you're not going to want to wait or else you're going to miss out. If you're procrastinator then I'd encourage you to pretend that the tournament is actually happening tomorrow so that you can muster up the motivation you need to get yourself to an Internet machine and buy tickets.

THE DETAILS

Alright, enough of me talking. You guys know how to golf or in the very least you've played enough video games to realize how things are supposed to work. Let's get down to the details you need for the tournament:

When - September 14th, 2017 (Thurday)
Where - Cougar Creek Golf Resort
How much - $185 per person or $700 per team
Teams - Groups of Four (4)
How - Get your tickets here
As always, a portion of all proceeds from your ticket purchase will be donated directly to a local charity. This time we've partnered up with the Gregor Foundation to make sure that our kids are at their most handsome. What is the Gregor Foundation?

The Gregor Foundation was started in 2014 by Jason and Traci Gregor after seeing a need to help. The Foundation provides a new suit for graduation complete with shirt, tie, shoes and socks to less fortunate high school students in Edmonton and area. We work closely with high school counsellors who identify and qualify the students who are in need.

High school can be a challenging time for any young person, but for those students whose families are experiencing severe financial difficulties, simply getting the basic necessities to enable them to attend their own graduation can be very difficult, if not impossible. High school students’ needs often go unnoticed in the community as these students try to blend in and are very private regarding their financial situation. These young men are often forgotten when it comes to receiving much-needed assistance.

“Gregor’s Grads” was formed to fill this gap and provide a helping hand for these deserving students. We believe that by providing financially-challenged students with a sense of normalcy and enabling them to participate in graduation will foster pride, self-esteem and allow them to move forward to the next phase in their lives with wonderful memories and a new suit they can call their own.

Mr. Derks has been a major partner since day one. Their clothing experts fit and tailor all the suits so the boys look great. Mr. Derks uses their connections in the clothing industry so we can fit each grad with their new ensemble for an average of $250.00.
